Jennifer Ivanov (Global News):
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau responded Monday to the latest round of racist, hateful graffiti sprayed in Calgary. This time, vandals targeted a junior high school in Queensland.
A Global News viewer spotted the hateful messages on Wilma Hansen School Sunday afternoon.
One message calls for violence against Syrians and mosques and reads: “Syrians go home and die.”
Another targets the Prime Minister: “Kill the traitor Trudeau.”
Trudeau responded via Twitter Monday, writing, “Canadians have shown the best of our country in welcoming refugees. That spirit won’t be diminished by fear and hate.”
The walls were cleaned up before classes resumed on Tuesday.
Police said they are investigating, but provided no further details Monday.
